One sentence description: Can you summarize your idea in one sentence? Stick to the facts -- what are you planning to make?
- I am using a simple DoodleNet Classifier and I am giving it more responses based on confidence level, as well as attempting to make it less binary.
-
Project abstract: ~250 word description of your project.
- This is an extension of the “Picky Art Critic” sketch from Assignment 9. I am using a DoodleNet classifier, and hiding it behind a kind of “personality” that judges your drawings. It seeks to make you improve, and will say no, throw away your work, and make you draw again until it is satisfied. Another key thing that I want to strive to do in this project is to use the simple act of hiding all that classification information from the player, and to give the machine some custom responses (giving it some semblance of a personality) somewhat to invoke frustration.
-
Inspiration: How did you become interested in this idea?
- I don’t think there’s a specific inspiration, but it kind of puts into form a kind of mindset that I tend to deal with when I draw. It’s a little bit of a perfectionist mindset (obviously not complete or else it might be impossible).
-
Visual reference: Drawings, photos, artworks, texts, or other media that relate to your idea.

-
Audience: Who are you making the project for? How do you expect your audience to interact with your piece? What will their experience be like?
- To be honest, there’s no specific target audience in mind. It’s kind of just a fun (or frustrating) game you play where you repeatedly draw until the machine is satisfied with your work.
-
Challenges: What is your biggest technical and/or conceptual challenge you anticipate?
- I think I want to try and somehow make the doodlenet classifications less strict. Considering it can guess so many things and currently you have to kind of “attune” the sketch when you start to something very specific, if it isn’t something super recognizable and clear cut like “cat”, then you likely will never see any kind of response from the machine at all. This might be challenging as I frankly have no idea how I’d go about doing this.
