To Start, An Analogy

We each have complex needs as well as skills and assets to give to each other. Playing our pieces like a puzzle means:
- collaboration - “anyone have a piece with this edge? I need it to connect to my piece”
- birds eye view to see opportunities for connection and organize it
- sharing assets freely—give and take frequently
- requires trust, includes trial and error
- more fun!
Playing our pieces like playing cards means:
- no collaboration or communication (in fact, poker face is recommended!)
- hiding our assets, not sharing openly what we have in our hand
- what you put down is permanent
- suspicion
- less fun
I started my project believing that my community has the skills and assets needed to solve its problems. However, this cannot be accomplished when we hide both our assets (and our needs) close to our chests; we need collaboration and organization, as well as a convenient way to do so. This will be a key piece in understanding how my project works.
