Most people still think fibroids only affect women in their 40s.

But during my Gynae posting, I saw something very different.

The number of young women facing fibroids, ovarian cysts, PCOS, and other gynecological issues really surprised me.

Many were in their early 20s and 30s, living with symptoms they didn’t realise needed early attention.

The truth is, the body gives signals early, but many women brush them off as “normal.”

Here are some signs you should never ignore:

When something feels unusual, it is advisable to visit a gynecologist, who may recommend two simple tests:

  1. Pelvic Ultrasound Scan – to detect cysts, fibroids, or other abnormalities.
  2. Hormonal Profile Test – to identify hormonal imbalance using a small blood sample.

Some gynecological conditions can be genetic or hormonal, but early testing and a healthy lifestyle go a long way.

Reduce fatty and processed foods, and include more vegetables like cabbage and other fiber-rich foods in your diet.

Your reproductive health matters.
