Civilization is a complicated thing. You’d think that in Fortunata, being surrounded by the Four Great Powers and containing a giant vortex of magical chaos like the Scar at its heart would be complicated enough; but, apparently, the tumult without and within is not enough to slake the thirst of living creatures for more and more complexity. Different groups are bound to arise, formed around conflicting ideals and operating under competing agendas. We call these groups “factions”: groups of individuals, each group united by a common goal, operating independently of the Four Great Powers. A sure way to get killed in Fortunata is to venture forth without knowing at least a little bit about these factions — who they are, what they want . . . and, most importantly, what they do to those who get in their way.

Here are some of the primary factions to watch out for:

Red Eyes

The Dark Ring

Children of Cansuyara

Hussars

Thieves Guild

Stone Guard

Looters

Sogserrans

The factions operate within Fortunata; without, a great game is played among The Four Great Powers on every side . . .
