A DESIGN CHALLENGE SOLVED IN 20 MINUTES

In order to practice my UX skills I did a whiteboard challenge in 20 minutes. Together with my flatmate I explored the field around food, food shopping, food storing, food waste. After 10 minutes of problem brainstorming we chose the problem space of food waste, which arises in private households.

From here my 20 minutes whiteboard challenge starts.

In continuous exchange with my flatmate I took notes on the following topics: Problem, Goal, User, Problem Space, Assumptions, App Functions. After I collected the data I draw the first wireframes of an app solution.

PROBLEM:

In private households good food often rots and got thrown away.

GOAL:

Less food products get thrown away in households.

USER:

People, who buy food in order to cook their meals and store food in their household. The user is not trained in cooking and is lacking inspiration how to cook. Furthermore the user is a spontaneous person, and doesn’t plan ahead.
