General

What will be the used language in all of the hackathon activities? - The main spoken language is English. All the materials and your pitch should be in English as well. Within your team activities, you may speak a language of your preference.

What is time zone of the hackathon? - The time zone of all of the activities is (CEST).

Do I need to go to Barcelona? - No, the programme will be facilitated 100% online.

What do I need to be able to participate? - You will need a laptop and a stable internet connection to be able to be online with the rest of the participants. Microphone is required so you can collaborate with your teammates and participate in the events. Using a camera is optional but we would love to interact with you in person.

What will be the ways of collaborating with teammembers, organisers and challenge owners? - The 5G Smart Railway hackathon will make use of: the WorldStartup Platform, Miro, Google Drive. Google Drive requires access with a gmail account. For Miro, you do not need to create an account to access the support programme materials, however we do recommend using it within Google Chrome for ultimate performance. You and your teammates will be onboarded on the WorldStartup platform where you can have a clear overview and access to contact organisers and challenge owners when necessary.

Registration

When does registration open and close? - Registration opens on the 3rd of May and closes on the 13th of June at 23:59 (CEST)

Can I apply as an individual, team or as a startup? - You can apply as an individual or as a team. If you apply as an individual, you will bCan I choose which parts of the program I would like to join? - The only mandatory parts of the hackathon are the events during the 48h hack period. You can access the support programme materials at anytime.e matched with a team. If you register as a team or a startup, your team lead has to sign up everyone at once.

Support Programme

Is the support programme mandatory? - The support programme over the first 4 weeks of June is optional. You can opt to get the programme updates or not, depending on your preference. The support program is there to provide you additional inspiration, resources and tools to increase the quality of your creative idea.

How much time does the programme take? - Every week there will be new exercises and resources with indicated approx time duration but it is up to you and your team to decide how much time to spend on it. We would recommend that you take around 30-60 min per week to dive into the topic.

Can I choose which parts of the program I would like to join? - The only mandatory parts of the hackathon are the events during the 48h hack period. You can access the support programme materials at anytime.

Can I get access to the materials after the programme ends? - Yes, the access to the Miro support materials will be available after the hackathon has ended.

Hackathon

How many days is the actual hackathon (mandatory programme)? - 48 hours spread over 3 days. We start on Friday the 25th of June at 16:00 (CEST) and the winner will be announced on Sunday the 27th of June at 16:00 (CEST). The support programme will begin earlier on the 31st of May. Everyone will get access to the training material and exercises after registration and selection as long as it is before the registration deadline on the 13th of June. You may use the support programme activities in your own time.
