What are some considerations for a co-host?
If you are selected to host a retreat it’s really important you take a moment to consider your co-host. While the choice of co-hosting is down to you, here are some key things to consider:
- Someone who sees the world differently than you
- Someone who has the capacity to co-host a retreat
- Someone with different skills or capabilities than you
What are some considerations for running an event?
- If the event is at an Undefinable retreat, allow the retreat hosts to set the tone for activities before you start
- Achieve silence by raising your hand and others will follow
- Set the tone for the expected vibe of the event
- If you are running a physical activities like a hike, ensure that you consider the various capabilities of the community
- If you are creating sub-groups, always try and change up team leaders and which groups people are in
- Where relevant allow for moments of silliness
- If you are running a physical activity or breaking the people into groups, taking advantage of the space and don’t just confine people into a main room
- Make all activities optional
- Consider some of our previous activities
What are some consideration for picking retreat event hosts?
- Mix 2 leaders of those who are more experienced with retreats, and those who aren’t
- They don’t have to be people that are typically spending time together, quite the contrary, a diverse mindset is very helpful
