A seamless onboarding experience is key to driving user engagement and retention. In the earlier version of the Sepal mobile app, onboarding was minimal—users only entered their phone number, email, and OTP. While this approach reduced friction, it led to a major activation issue once users entered the app.
Without essential details, users had to manually enter data before they could use core features, leading to frustration and high drop-off rates. The goal was clear: redesign onboarding to ensure users could take meaningful actions immediately after signing up.
