Clipboard Engineers do more than write code — we design and build systems that power large, real-world marketplaces, interface with customers, design features, and lead/manage projects through to delivery. Our engineers work closely with product managers, designers, and operations partners to solve complex operational and marketplace problems that affect thousands of workers and businesses every day. Many of the challenges we tackle involve matching supply and demand in real time, managing credential and compliance workflows, building reliable financial systems, and creating tools that allow workers and businesses to coordinate work seamlessly.
We're looking for engineers who see the full picture — technically strong, but equally skilled at wearing the hat of a product manager and care deeply about our customers. Many of the problems we tackle involve large-scale marketplaces, real-time decision systems, and operational workflows that require both technical rigor and strong product thinking. If you enjoy building practical systems that operate at real scale and directly influence business outcomes, Clipboard is the right place for you.

Our engineering org currently consists of ~70 engineers distributed across multiple product (and platform) teams.
While each team owns a different problem, our operating model is consistent across the org. The rituals vary slightly by team, but as a whole we operate in a very async-heavy environment since our engineers work across multiple time zones and regions (US, Canada, India, Brazil, the UK, and the European Union). In most cases, teams run either a daily or weekly async standup along with a bi-weekly sprint cadence.

Team Synapse sits at the heart of Clipboard’s shift shopping marketplace. They’re building the intelligence behind how shifts get matched to the right workers — experimenting with dynamic pricing models, machine learning-driven rate optimization, and smart shift windowing to maximize both fill rates and worker satisfaction. On any given day, the team is pushing on auction-style bidding mechanisms, block booking infrastructure, and the pricing signals that make the marketplace efficient for facilities and workers alike.

Alchemy designs policies that offer workers flexibility while providing a reliable and predictable experience for workplaces. They own the worker's "commute" journey — everything between booking a shift and arriving at the workplace. This includes shift reminders, ETA and location tracking, no-call-no-show (NCNS) determination, finding replacement workers for late cancellations, worker-left-early flows, urgent shifts, the Clipboard Score, and attendance policy. Alchemy also owns the Workplace App as a catch-all and handles chat functionality, all aimed at reducing false no-shows and maximizing shift reliability.
