Rule #1: If you want others to engage with your content, you should engage with them as well.
Rule #2: Engage with both small and big creators, as well as your followers.
Rule #3: Having a smart system to engage with others can help you avoid wasting too much time.
How to build a system?
- Group the platforms on which you want to create content.
- You can decide when to engage with others, but based on my experience and what other creators have said:
- LinkedIn is most powerful when you post and engage in the morning because you're "at work" before everyone else. This means that when people open LinkedIn, they will see your posts first. This strategy is shared both by Jay Clouse and Justin Welsh.
- Instagram - mornings. Later (a scheduling tool) did an extensive research about different posting times. However, from my own experience evenings work just fine as well. If you want to get more tips about Instagram, follow Lucas O'Keefe.
- Twitter - use this free tool to check when you should post. You can design your own engagement system. Here is an example by Content Kuba.
- Decide how much time you are willing to spend each day, starting with at least 10 minutes and increasing if you have more time available.
- Stick to the plan and treat it like a daily job.

Who is your target audience?

Questions you should think of:
- Which social media do they use?
- How can you find them on social media? (e.g. on LinkedIn you can find people by their job titles, Instagram - by hashtags they use)
- What are their interests and what kind of content do they consume?
