After reading the assignment worksheet, I knew exactly who I was going to choose for my project. David Dobrik immediately came into mind because of how great of a person he is and how many people follow and respect him. I have been watching his videos for years and have always felt inspired by them. They also give me a source of laughter when I need it.
It was originally hard for me to get started on this project because I didn’t know where or how to begin. It began with me really getting to know Notion and how to work it and create a page I liked. I had to google various things to make sure I was doing it right and how I wanted it. I then began to brainstorm how I wanted to talk about him and really capture him as a whole. There are so many things I could have talked about when it came to him, but I felt like I needed the best parts and the most interesting. I also had to become familiar with how to make a video with voice-over and screen recordings. I have never done a project like this so it took me some time to get used to it. At times I found myself getting frustrated and confused when I wasn’t able to do the things I wanted with my video and ultimately wanted to give up at points.
I think throughout the process I learned how to be a creative thinker and creator which allowed me to be so open with my project. The assignment had little restrictions, so it allowed me to be creative and breakthrough my walls as a creative person. I also learned a lot more about myself when it came to my abilities on how to make a project like this by myself. A lot of things I’ve done like that in the past have been in groups or partners so I was able to receive help and guidance. Having to do it on my own was definitely challenging but it was well worth it in the end.
