Lotus (2021 - Present) [acrylic]

Looking back on the memory is feels surreal and almost like a dream.

Stranger (2017) [acrylic]

Stranger #1 - These are my most vivid memories of China, where I spent nine years of my childhood. [3ft x 4ft]

Stranger #2 - the well-known Canadian landmark, Snow Dome, inspired by Jin Me-yoon. [2ft x 3ft]

I felt as if I belonged in neither culture, and I believe many Canadians might have had the same sentiments growing up.

The stylistic choices of this series were inspired by the following artists: Tenmyouya Hisashi, Andy Warhol, Shusaku Arakawa-Madeline Gins, Sol LeWitt-wall, and Yayoi Kusama.

I want my work to convey the mindset of seeing gender as a piece of identification, not a limiting category. I wish to deliver this message through a nature-themed mixture of pieces. My works are connected by the idea of predator (society) and prey (individual).

Spider - A camouflaged spider watches the prey in the shadows, similar to the hidden, controlling aspects of our society. [3ft x 3ft]

Creature - Placed in front of Spider, this creature represents the simplest form of our humanity, and it embodies our weak and fragile identities preyed on by society.
