In the summer of 2019, I joined Elevation Church's Digital Team as a UX Design Intern. Throughout my 3 months in North Carolina, I worked on many things including help ship Elevation Connect, a digital platform for people to get connected through small groups, volunteering, and baptisms.

<aside> 🙋🏻‍♂️ My Role I helped design the logic for how to optimize sign up processes across all use-cases. This involved building out the UX architecture and visual wireframes. During my time at Elevation, I also contributed towards various other projects including the designs for Elevation's Apple tvOS streaming app.

Problem Space

Elevation Connect is a digital platform for people to get connected with the Elevation community through joining/leading small groups (eGroups), volunteering (eTeams), and Baptisms. At the time, Elevation Connect failed to embody the transparency, clarity, and friendliness that the ministry was known for. The site was overwhelming and users were asked to provide a significant amount of information with no suggestion of the intention.

Furthermore, users often entered the experience from multiple points of entry of which the platform was not optimized for. Elevation Connect needed to be able to stand alone as its own entity as well as act as a transition point from somewhere else.

Goal

Our goal was to make the sign up process for eGroups, eTeams, and Baptism as smooth as possible. The solution comprised of four components:

  1. Visual design overhaul to match the Elevation's updated design system
  2. Address sign-in/login security issues
