As Electrochemist, you will drive the scientific vision and research direction for our lithium-ion battery recycling program. You will focus on developing scalable, efficient, and sustainable processes to reclaim and manufacture high-quality active materials. With a core emphasis on electrochemistry and materials science, you will oversee the development and implementation of advanced testing and analytical methods to ensure quality and performance at every stage.

Overview

• Drive the scientific vision and research direction for our lithium-ion battery recycling programme.
• Develop scalable, efficient, and sustainable processes to recover and manufacture high-quality active materials.
• Build and implement advanced testing and analytical methods to ensure performance and quality at every stage.

Key responsibilities

• Strategy and leadership

  • Set R&D direction for electrochemical and green active material manufacturing approaches.

• Advanced testing and analysis

  • Lead testing and validation using analytical methods such as SEM, Raman, and XRD, alongside electrochemical techniques.

• Electrochemical testing

  • Design and run protocols including cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic cycling, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and related methods.

• Process and technical oversight

  • Direct development of recovery processes that meet quality, cost, and sustainability targets for scale-up.

• Quality and compliance

  • Establish production quality controls and batch testing to verify consistency, performance, and safety.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and relevant industry regulations.

• Fundraising and grants

  • Support fundraising and pursue funding opportunities, including grants and private investment.
  • Partner with leadership on proposals, applications, and collaborations.

Qualifications

• PhD in electrochemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or a related discipline, with a focus on lithium-ion batteries and recycling.
• Demonstrated expertise in lithium-ion battery electrochemistry and recycling technologies.
• Strong experience with analytical methods such as Raman, SEM, XRD, and ICP-OES.
• Track record scaling chemical recovery processes, with a commitment to green chemistry and sustainable manufacturing.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred

• Experience in the recycling industry or broader lithium-ion battery sector.
• Experience working in a start-up environment.
• Experience working in a start-up environment.
• Experience designing and building chemistry lab spaces.
