Troubleshooting Workflow

  1. Identify the symptom (e.g., BGP down, no internet, ping fails)
  2. Check physical and interface status (Layer 1)
  3. Verify Layer 2 and Layer 3 configs (encapsulation, IPs, routing)
  4. Check BGP session and routes
  5. Use pings/traceroutes to isolate the problem
  6. Check logs and debug if needed
  7. Fix and verify (clear BGP session, correct configs, etc.)
