Election Rules

Participation in Eden elections is a member right and a responsibility.

  1. If you choose to participate, you must show up and vote in the first round.
    1. The choice not/to participate in elections is locked 24 hours before the election begins. During this time, participant groupings are randomized.
  2. In your Zoom meeting, be visible, well-lit, on camera, and speak with others during your video call.
  3. Record and upload all of your election meeting rounds. At least one member of each round record the meeting and upload it.
  4. Be respectful of other members and their participation in the election.
  5. Participants must receive greater than two-thirds (>2/3) of the final vote in a round to become the delegate.
    1. To become the delegate, you must have voted for yourself. Voting for yourself indicates acceptance of the delegate accountability.

Community Room Reminders/Announcements

  2. If you run out of fuel, we recommend EOSPowerup. https://eospowerup.io/free
  3. Proof of the meeting is required, especially if you win. Make sure at least one member in your room records and uploads it.
  4. For anyone having difficulty getting your meeting links, reach out to others in your group via Telegram for the link.

Election FAQ

  1. Why do I have an election password?
    1. Your election password unlocks your election Zoom meeting links, which are encrypted, and logged to the blockchain.
  2. What if I'm registered for the election and can't show up at the last minute?
    1. There's no punitive consequence to not showing up. However, you won't have a say in who represents you, and unlike a traditional election, your absence will be noticed (in your small first-round group) and (if it becomes a habit) could impact your reputation with the community. At the very least, we suggest you let other Eden members know you will not be there.
  3. Why do I have to enter my election password on all my devices?
    1. You only need to input your election password on the device you'll use to participate in the election.
  4. How long do elections last?
    1. Each voting round is 1 hour long: 10 minutes for prep, 40 minutes for your video call, 10 minutes to wrap up (and get any last votes in, video recordings uploaded, etc.). Effectively, 10 min before and 10 minutes after rounds = 20 minutes breaks.
  5. Do I have to show up on video?
    1. Yes. Eden is a community of real people. When you vote, it is your word that you showed up on video. While we can't automatically verify you showed up on video, the community will see your absence and that you voted, which will impact your reputation.
  6. What do I need for the election?
    1. You must be an Eden member and indicate that you plan to participate in the election in the Eden portal. You also will need the Zoom zoom.us video app (as well as a Zoom account) and the Anchor wallet greymass.com/en/anchor/download/. Lastly, if you plan to run as a delegate, you will need to record your election rounds, which requires you (in the case of Zoom) to be on a desktop (the mobile Zoom app doesn't offer the option to record meetings locally).
  7. How do I sign transactions on my smartphone?
    1. Use the Greymass Anchor wallet for iOS or Android: https://greymass.com/en/anchor/download/.
