To kick-off the Slow AI research stream, we hosted our first community session to begin seeding and sensing alternative AI narratives.

Overwhelmed by the # of sign-ups (a good sign), we had to rework our original plan (which anticipated like 15-20 people hehe) to accomodate more people while still supporting the same level of deep participation. We put out an open call in the community and ended up with a beautiful line-up of people to facilitate and hold the space alongside us.

🥦 Gathering + Co-creating

In this first community session of the project:

• Nadia briefly introduced the project + research intentions
• We play with the v1 of our new pictorial discourse playground made by Marina Cardoso as a way to visually critique existing or put forth new narratives of AI
• We moved across breakout rooms, each with their own theme and respective co-host, to think out loud and share thoughts, questions, references, associations, ideas that come up for us
• Download, reflect, and vote on which theme(s) feel most fertile & meaningful for us to explore further in the research

We loved how rich the discussion was, how beautifully chaotic the Miro board, and the plenty provocations and questions we surfaced together 🪁 A pretty packed program for 1,5 hr, we easily - in the words of Alja - could have done this all day.
