London, 12 July 2022 - Alona Shevchenko, co-founder of Ukraine DAO, represented the DAO at ETHBarcelona from 6-8 July 2022, a three-day conference focused on Web3 education, innovation, art, and creative solutions that promote social impact.

Ukraine DAO, a decentralised autonomous organisation founded on 21 February 2022, working in conjunction with Ukraine’s Ministry for Digital Transformation, has raised over $8m in cryptocurrencies to support on-the-ground not-profits including Come Back Alive and OutRight International

Ukraine DAO has become a model for how a decentralised autonomous organisation focused on social impact can move beyond fundraising. Their most impactful recent work includes helping the Stanford-backed Project Dokaz - The Starling Lab document russian war crimes. Data collected by their team in Kharkiv has already been submitted to the International Criminal Court as part of the first cryptographically collected dossier in the world.

At the conference Shevchenko spoke about the importance of listening to and promoting Ukrainian voices as a key part of her message on how to support Ukraine through its current invasion and genocide from russia. She also discussed the need for Ukraine’s allies to provide it with heavy weapons and fighter jets, crucial to the war effort.

Invited by ETHBarcelona organiser Manu Alzuru, a supporter of the DAO from the very beginning, Shevchenko gave a talk on how Ukraine DAO operates in addition to speaking about amplifying Ukrainian voices.

Alona Shevchenko said:

It’s been a privilege of a lifetime to work on Ukraine DAO and represent Ukraine at ETHBarcelona. I've only seen love and empathy at this incredible event, hats off to the team organising this for the utmost respect and consideration they've shown to Ukraine.
