Primary Indication for ECT

• Major Depression ,especially with melancholia, Cataonic or psychotic features. ECT is is highly effective treatment for major depression, Demonstrating remission rate more than 60%
• High suicidal risk
• Failure to eat or drink adequately when there has been inadequate response to antidepressent
• Mania where other strategies fail to gain remission
• Schizophrenia with acute features where other strategies have to fall to achieve remission

2. Anterograde amnesia
3. Retrograde amnesia
