Dysthe, a cunning trickster and a devoted ally of Halia, aids her on her journey. As a wise and enigmatic witch, Dysthe possesses unparalleled knowledge about Halia, warning her of the looming dangers and providing essential potions, assistance with her magical abilities, and guidance in unraveling her mysterious past.
A roving witch, Dysthe rarely lingers in one place for long. Proficient in witchcraft, sorcery, and simple enchantments, she guides Halia to uncover the truth behind her false memories. In Halia, Dysthe sees a reflection of herself – a woman determined to push her limits – and decides to offer her assistance.
History
Dysthe's history remains shrouded in mystery, as she skillfully conceals her past from others. However, whispers among the forest nymphs, whom Dysthe cannot enchant, claim that she was once a prominent subordinate of the powerful Circe. Circe, daughter of the sun god Helios and an oceanid named Perseis, is a sorceress renowned for turning offenders into animals using magical potions.
Dysthe attempted to deceive Circe, craving power akin to her mentor's and the secret formula for potent spells. When Circe discovered the treachery, she humiliated Dysthe and stripped away a significant portion of her magical abilities. Before Circe could transform her into an animal, Dysthe managed to escape. Fugitives of Circe's wrath still seek to kill her, compelling Dysthe to wander through realms and forests, never settling in one place.
With her magic significantly diminished, Dysthe resorts to using her remaining powers to charm the inhabitants of various realms for survival. While she can predict the future for those who seek it, she playfully inserts false elements to create fear and apprehension among believers in witchcraft.
Physical Appearance
Dysthe presents herself as slender, unassuming, and discreet. To avoid recognition, she keeps her face almost entirely concealed. Her hands are elegant, delicate, and remarkably agile. Her eyes remain distant and expressionless.
Personality
Asocial, apathetic, and rather inconsiderate, Dysthe maintains a certain distance from Halia despite recognizing her potential. While she may have displayed cowardice in escaping from Circe, Dysthe remains audacious, appearing outwardly serene. Her character also embodies impulsiveness and manipulation.
