Add due dates to issues to help your team keep track of time-sensitive work.
How we use due dates at Linear We don't use them that much! One of our principles at Linear is to focus on quality over release speed or hitting specific target dates. We use cycles and a product roadmap to maintain momentum and find writing a changelog also keeps shipping speed up. We built this feature because it's important to many of our customers, especially those who work with external parties or on larger teams.
Once a due date is added to your issue, it will show up as a date in the issue view or as an icon in a board or list. Hover over the icon to view the due date and how many days are left before it's due or have passed since it was due. The icon will be red if it's overdue, orange if it's due within the next week or grey otherwise.
If you don't see the icon on your list or board view, go to View Options, Ordering & Grouping and make sure that Due Date is selected under Display properties.

The fastest and easiest way to add a due date to an issue is to use
D. Use the shortcut
D when viewing an issue or after selecting it on a board or list. It'll bring up a date picker so you can choose the due date you wish.
Set Due Date will also work.
You can also add a due date by right-clicking on the issue to open a contextual menu. When viewing an issue, click on the more menu (three dots) next to the edit button to add a due date. This won't show up if you're in edit mode; when editing, use the keyboard shortcut or command menu otherwise add the due date after saving changes.

D. Click on the icon in a board or list view or on the due date in the issue view to bring up the date picker and update the due date.
