Drafting Precisely


Type Exact Lengths to control the length of an edge or the distance of a move.

Type an exact length at any time:

Control Edge Length for New Geometry


To draw a rectangle of exact dimensions:

Use the same approach for lines, and the sides of a polygon.

Base Point Move and Rotate


Base point move

Select the geometry you want to move

Press Space to initiate the command line menu. Type and select "Base Point Move"

Specify direction and distance of move

This is done by drawing an arrow. Click once to place the start of the arrow, and a second time to place the end. To do this accurately

Base Point Rotate

Select the geometry you want to rotate.

Tap the spacebar:

Click Base Point Rotate

Specify starting Node (base point)

Use S hotkey to snap to a corner or midpoint.

Draw in any direction to specify where the rotation angle will calculate from.

Rotate the object.

The object rotates around that basepoint, rather than around the centroid of the object.

Mirror


Mirror any geometry along an axis you define.

Click the geometry.

Click and drag the center of a selection box edge.

While clicking, type -1 and tap enter.

The geometry will mirror.

Click the geometry.

Use hotkey M or tap spacebar and select Mirror

Define the axis you want to mirror along:

Click to start. Click to end

Use S to snap to edges or corners to define the axis

Shortcuts


Snap

Hold down S on the keyboard to snap to map features or geometry you have added to your project.

Ortho

Hold down Shift on the keyboard to snap to orthographic angles and move orthographically.

Copy from Map

To quickly create elements, such as lines parallel to existing roads, right click on a map feature, then click “Create”
