The first few weeks of IXD501, I planned to name my brand Arcadia which refers to a vision of pastoralism and harmony with nature. Almost like a paradise or an oasis. I thought that name was quite relevant to the mood I wanted to create in my app - a sense of calmness and reassurance. The name can be seen in my presentation on week 6.

But before that, I began sketching a few ideas of possible logos for Arcadia, which can be shown below.

With regards to these designs, I was looking for ways in which I could combine the idea of VR/AR with the word Arcadia. This can be seen on the first two drawings. However it ended up looking like VAR rather than AR (Augmented Reality). I was hopeful that this could be done, but from what I could see, it couldn’t. So, I began by looking at different designs to use. Rather than trying to combine the letters with the logo, I used the icon of a VR headset to insert the name and “A” for Arcadia in the centre. I was curious to see what this would look like, as after all I am designing a VR product. In the end, I felt it didn’t suit the mood of the brand. These where the last sketches I created for Arcadia, until I decided to change the name.
