You've probably seen docs that say things like "getting started with X is simple!" or "to set up, just do Y". Yeah, no. The reasoning behind these is often to make the user feel comfy (you've done the process yourself, and you know it's simple, so you want to set the user at ease), but it can have the opposite effect: the user tries X or Y and runs into some problems, and they either feel stupid, or angry that you lied.

What to do instead: Tell the user what they need to do, and let them judge its simplicity for themselves. One thing I do sometimes is state the number of steps instead, as in "To get started with X, you need to do 3 things".
