Georgia’s Old Governor’s Mansion is one of three historic museums operated on the campus of Georgia College & State University. The museum covers the history of Milledgeville’s time as the state capital in the mid-1800s and the governors who lived there.

During my time at Georgia’s Old Governor’s Mansion, I was mainly responsible for giving tours of the house and interacting with guests. I also had the opportunity to work on collection care and preservation efforts, implement new educational programming, and coordinate events.

My experience was formative not only in building my hard skills in both the historical and educational spaces, but also in developing my soft skills. I learned invaluable customer service and public speaking skills, as well as how to perform under pressure.
