February 14, 2023: Researched other data visualization projects that also focused on narrative structures. Gathered design inspiration into Figma and noted what kinds of visualizations they were.

February 16, 2023: Watched the movie in its entirety without pausing or taking notes. Started deciding between exploratory vs explanatory, how much interactivity I’d want to do without sacrificing design or too much time (The Structure of Stand-Up, Federica Fragapane). Started sketching some ideas. Watched the movie a second time in order to begin transcribing it. Started working on the wireframes in Figma.

February 17, 2023: Continued transcription. Started project planning in Notion.

February 16, 2023 → February 21, 2023: Started and finished transcription.

February 21, 2023: In class, reflecting on grids (intention, proportion, harmony).

February 24, 2023: Started initial visualizations (arc and gantt). Started watching Mona Chalabi’s processes (here and here) and inspired by how accessible her approach is while going against the industry standards. Organizing tools, inspirations, and other resources. Made a decision to look more into AE/motion graphics as a way to add interactivity.
