Device Management
This is the central command center for every phone that exists in your world. From here, you can issue new phones to players and NPCs, change who owns a device, or remove a phone from the game entirely. Getting familiar with this screen is the first and most important step to managing your world's devices.
How to Access Device Management:
- As the GM, open your Smartphone Widget.
- If you are not on the Home Screen, perform a short swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen to reveal the navigation bar and tap the Home button (🏠).
- Tap the Settings app (⚙️).
- In the "GM Only" section, tap on "Device Management."
Key Features:
Creating a New Phone
- Tap the plus icon (➕) in the top right corner of the Device Management screen.
- A list of eligible Actors will appear.
- Note: This list is filtered by the Actor Types you have enabled in the module's settings. By default, this is only 'Character' type Actors. If an NPC or other Actor is missing, go to Foundry's main Configure Settings > Module Settings > Smartphone Widget > Smartphone GM Settings and add their Actor Type to the list.
- Select the Actor who will own the new phone. A device will be instantly created, assigned a unique phone number, and linked to that Actor.
Default Wallpaper and Frame for New Phones
- To set these defaults, use either path:
- Foundry Configure Settings > Module Settings > Smartphone Widget > Smartphone GM Settings > General.
- Smartphone Widget > Settings app > GM Only > Smartphone GM Settings > General.
- Default Wallpaper chooses the image or video applied to newly created phones. Cover fills the screen and may crop the media. Contain shows the full media and may leave empty space around it.
- Default Frame chooses the frame style applied to newly created phones.
- These defaults apply when a new phone is created from Device Management, when the GM drags an Actor onto the phone to create a phone and contact, or when an item-based phone is activated from a phone template.
- Existing phones keep their current wallpaper and frame unless the user changes them on that phone.
