✨ In addition to shows, we will be running workshops as part of Defrost Festival for the first time ever – our plan is to begin with a small lineup of top-tier teachers from TIC and interstate, and widen the net once it is clear that those are selling well

We are now taking applications
We are now accepting applications from improv and sketch comedy teachers to build our schedule of public workshops including:
- Conventional comedy workshops without a performance outcome
- For instance, teaching your favourite approach to “How to play the Game of the Scene” or “How to generate ideas for sketches”
- Workshops directly tied to casting in a festival performance
- For instance, teaching a specific improv format that you’ve also pitched to be a part of our Festival performance schedule
- There is no requirement to cast every workshop participant – please do what you feel is best for your show
You’ll be able to describe which kind of pitch you’re making on your application form.
What we’re looking for
- Teachers who want to participate in something really special
- Workshops that teach new and innovative approaches to improv and sketch, or provide a fresh perspective on more classic styles
- A mix of local talent and out-of-town improvisers coming to teach us their ways
- Instructors with significant experience with the specifics being taught
We want to hear exciting and original concepts, so if you have a few different ideas, don’t hold back – we encourage you to apply as many times as you like!
What you get from us
The opportunity to participate in a one-of-a-kind festival alongside some of Melbourne's best improvisers and sketch comedians
PLUS
- A festival pass which offers discounted drinks, discounted shows, and in some cases free standby entry for select events
- An opportunity to spread knowledge with community full of comedy lovers who are keen to learn, plus (hopefully) a healthy out-of-town student body
