Students can declare the physics major or minor after they have completed the physics major/minor prerequisite courses or are currently enrolled in their final physics major prerequisite course(s) (and it's past the add/drop period). Again, note that a more thorough description of the physics major and minor programs can be found on the main UCB Physics website.

How to declare/add the physics major

You can submit your request to declare or add the physics major through this GoogleForm. Please be sure to follow all instructions. You can contact or schedule an appointment with your physics major advisor if you have any questions. After you submit your GoogleForm, the following will happen within two weeks:

• Your physics major advisor will review your forms. If prerequisites and other submissions are approved, your physics major advisor will declare your major in CalCentral and then email you to confirm (and celebrate!) the declaration, share resources, and request that you schedule a 15-minute appointment with them (required). Through this process you will also select a faculty advisor, which is a faculty member that you can consult once per semester to discuss courses and questions. If your forms are not approved, your physics major advisor will email you to request additional information or clarification.

How to declare/add the physics minor

You can submit your request to declare the physics minor by completing and submitting this Physics Minor Form to your physics major advisor via email. Contact your physics major advisor if you have any questions.
