v.0.1 by Anna - Maria Sichani 19/01/2023
These are some initial guidelines on (re)naming datasets folders and files during the ingestion and documentation process.
The file naming conventions below are designed to ensure that all datasets are described in a comprehensive, efficient, human and machine readable way and can be brought together easily and automatically throughout the project's duration.
General rules
- all names are Case Sensitive
- Using_underscore instead of s p a c e , comma , etc (in order to ensure compatibility between systems and processes)
1)Folder level
Folder name: Partner Institution/data provider
avoid acronyms (eg. BFI)
2)Dataset level
Dataset filename: name of the dataset
- If the original filename is good enough (descriptive & follows our general rules) then please stick to it.
- If not, you need to create a new one for work on this project. Please make sure you store the original filename in the datasheet's field (original filename). FIXME: @Anna-Maria to add at the datasheet
- please avoid subfolders if not necessary; otherwise, please try and describe the directories’ structure in the file path (eg Science_Museum_Group/online_catalogue/persons.json)
