Depending on the data source, the update can be daily (D), weekly (W), monthly (M), quarterly (S) or yearly (Y).

You can see how often the source is updated in the information table at the bottom left of the chart.

CommoPrices does not create data: we verify the reliability of the sources and consolidate your reference indexes into a single database, to simplify the monitoring of your raw materials.

Thus, CommoPrices automatically updates its data as soon as the parent source updates and publishes its data.

However, it is possible that depending on the context and methodologies of the sources, the updating of the data series may be temporarily disrupted. An information message may therefore appear on your interface when consulting a series concerned, to provide you with more context.

Indeed, for some sources such as Eurostat, the update is more or less delayed, depending on various factors. The source covers intra and extra-EU indices, so it has to collect all the data from the various member countries, consolidate them, then check them before finally publishing them. Therefore, publication may be delayed if, for example, a member country has not yet uploaded its customs information.

➡️ Example: We received mid-July the data for the whole month of May

It is also possible that a source suspends a series. In this case, we actively search for alternatives to the suspended or irregular series and inform you as much as possible via messages about the affected series. You can also proactively search for available alternatives on the tool with the switch module.

Modification of the graphic visualization

It is possible to modify the graphic display of an indicator, by switching to weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly averages, via the "Frequency" wheel at the top of the page.

<aside> ❗ It is important to distinguish between the period of validity of the data and the frequency with which the source is updated. For example, a source can publish data valid for the different months of the quarter on a quarterly basis.

N.B.: On CommoPrices, you will find in the variation table, as well as on the interactive graph, the validity period of the data.
