Bio:
- My journey to Kula started from my fear of sales! Selling was a mysterious black box that I wanted to peek inside of. Now I realise, there is no tarantula inside it - although there are constant surprises.
- Love a hard open problem and reading research papers
- Volunteered as an overnight listener (emotional support hotline) - so hard to shock and comfortable with silence.
Work History
- Netcraft / Gov:
- Scraping the internet looking for bad things and taking them down.
- Founded the Web Shell team at Netcraft which now removes >155k Web Shells a year (which sell on the black market for $5-10).
- ML / GOFAI / Image Recognition at scale.
- Brain-Computer Interfaces:
- Worked in the MIT Media Lab on wearable brain-to-speech interfaces; enables those with no muscle control (ALS/Motor Neurone Disease) to communicate. It is also going to space, and appeared in The Economist.
- Crypto
- Started my interest in research working on a novel programming language that enforced state changes and better semantic type checking.
- Deployed smart contracts that stored >1B$ in value.
Education
- Imperial College London: Spent a lot of time in the water (sailing / scuba diving), got a few prizes for projects.
- MIT: Got lucky enough to spend my Masters here; AI-galore.
