Session Overview

Daily scheduled folder-cleanup run for Sam Aguiar's Windows machine. Three-pass workflow per SKILL-folder-cleanup-v2.md. Scope: Desktop, Documents (top-level only Pass 1), Downloads, AppDataLocalTemp (Pass 1 only with 7-day mtime floor), user root. NEVER-TOUCH list enforced. All moves staged to a dated quarantine folder rather than deleted. Run completed without breaking anything live.

What Was Accomplished

• Pass 1 (top-level dedupe + junk): Inventoried 20,118 lines across all in-scope roots. Built reference-check index from skills-library filenames and three known CLAUDE.md files. 6,314 items hit PROTECTED filter (under NEVER-TOUCH paths or matched reference index).
• Pass 2 (deep subfolder audit): Surfaced 7 high-confidence candidates after the slow content-scrape approach was abandoned for a bounded filename-only ref index.
• Pass 3 (root organization): User root scanned. Flagged but did not move 9 ad-hoc handoff .md files at C:\Users\SAguiar\ plus credentials in Downloads and Documents top-level chaos.
• Quarantine: Two confident moves executed totaling ~111 MB.

• Wrote _QUARANTINE-2026-05-04\actions.csv (2 rows) and README.md (manifest, MCQ-flag list, auto-delete date).
• Updated C:\Users\SAguiar\_cleanup-reports\QUARANTINE-REGISTRY.md with the new dated row.
• Reference-check skip count: 0 candidates were dropped because of skill or CLAUDE.md references in this run. The 6,314 protected items were filtered upstream (NEVER-TOUCH path matches), not via reference-check.

What Was Tried and Didn't Work

• First pass at the candidates script did a full recursive content scrape of every SKILL.md and CLAUDE.md across the whole filesystem to build the reference index. It timed out at the 5-minute boundary. Switched to a bounded approach: filenames-only from skills-library plus three known CLAUDE.md locations.
• Desktop Commander read_file returned only JSON metadata for some files. Worked around by using start_process with Get-Content <path> -Raw and reading initial output.
• read_process_output returned empty in some cases per the SESSION-REFERENCES.md gotcha. Worked around by writing all PowerShell outputs to files instead of relying on stdout capture.
• Bash sandbox attempted to write the inventory file in the Linux side and hit the ENOSPC concern flagged in SESSION-REFERENCES. Switched to PowerShell writing directly to Windows paths.
