Thank you everyone who submitted questions during and after our event on Friday, March 4, 2022! See our answers and guidance below. Please note:
- Similar questions are merged (so your question might be answered even if the wording is different)! Please read carefully if you don’t see your exact question.
- As usual, we’re prioritizing questions relevant to the API team and developer-specific product information.
Most-asked questions:
- With the new interaction modals, will there be more options available (a slider, a date picker, multiple choice options)? These features would be awesome and add a lot of value into the new modals.
- Investing more in the modal/form interaction response type is absolutely something that we have planned. The goal for v1 was to build a way for bots to receive long-form text input from users via our interactions system, which is why they currently support just text inputs. We have plans to give them many more features!
- What will be on the home page, or what kind of functionality is planned overall (like ratings, reviews, or filters)?
- We plan on running experiments and listening to users and developers to determine what works best over time - we want to help admins and moderators discover apps that will be most valuable for their needs and interests, and there are multiple ways to do that.
- For apps without a formal ToS or Privacy Policy, is there some sort of template we can use? What must be included in them?
- Having a ToS and Privacy Policy are required to click "Enable Discovery" which opts you in to the App Directory. We've heard from a few of you this week on this question, so we know this is a common feeling - we cannot provide you legal advice, but we're going to see if there are other resources we can point you toward for you to consider.
- At a high level, your privacy policy should clearly and accurately describe to users of your app the user data you collect and how you use and share such data (which, as a reminder, must be consistent with our Developer Terms of Service and Developer Policy). Your ToS is your agreement with users of your app that generally describes your and the users’ rights and responsibilities that apply to their use of your app.
- What if we don't have a website for our ToS / Privacy Policy?
- You can put your ToS and policy in a clearly marked channel in your support server, and provide a link to it.
- Can developers who don’t meet the requirements still access the app directory to get ready in advance?
