Organizations, Articles, Videos, Books, merch, and whatever else I have found useful in my cybersecurity travels, and maybe you will, too.
- Women in Cybersecurity (WiCyS) - there are too many reasons here to list on why you would want to become a member of this incredible organization (and allies are welcome to join as well). It is through WiCyS that I am able to study SANS courses, that I could attend the WiCyS 4-day conference in Dallas this past April (2025), and that I’ve had access to some stellar mentorship. There are a dozen+ more reasons to join this group of talented folx. Check out the membership benefits in the link above.
- Sober in Cyber Bonfire merch store. I happened upon Sober in Cyber through a LinkedIn post, and as a non-drinker, I am so happy to see and to support the idea that we can get together in tech spaces without alcohol. The merch supports their efforts to providing sober spaces at tech events. Do you need one more tech-related hoodie? Yes. You absolutely do.
- ISC2 Pledges One Million FREE ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity Courses and Exams. This is the program I enrolled in to get my first taste of Cybersecurity. The exam is normally $199, but that is waived if you qualify. So, if you’re interested in starting your cybersecurity career, this is a great place to begin!
- LetsDefend hands-on blue team training. LetsDefend helps you build a blue team career with hands-on experience by investigating real cyber attacks inside a simulated SOC. This is a brand new resource to me but looks promising. I’m starting with SOC Fundamentals because I tend to begin at the beginning for any program I start.
- Department of Energy’s CyberForce 101 Library: Great information to help you in your CTF challenges!
- HackTheBox Cheatsheet
- My Start.Me page has even more resources, including no-cost learning, ways to keep your digital life safe, and Apps / Tools of the trade.
