Aobelieve Quick Release Flat and Curved Adhesive Camera Mount

The threaded mount on the bottom of Vive/Tundra trackers is the same as standard 1/4-20 camera mounts. So most people use an adhesive camera mount with a curved plastic base to attach a tracker to their headset. Since the curve matches the headset shape, you get a more secure hold.

What is the headset tracker for? Doesn’t the headset already track itself?

If you're using Vive Trackers with a Quest headset, it’s recommended to use a headset-mounted Lighthouse tracker to keep both tracking systems in sync.

Quest headsets use inside-out tracking (cameras tracking your environment), while Vive Trackers rely on external Lighthouse base stations. Since these systems don’t naturally communicate with each other, a headset tracker ensures that your Vive Trackers stay aligned with your Quest playspace, preventing tracking drift over time.

<aside> 💡

This setup is only necessary when mixing Quest headsets with Vive Trackers. If you’re using a SteamVR-native headset like the Valve Index , Vive Headset, or Pimax, no additional headset tracker is needed.

With a Vive tracker mounted on the headset, it’s possible to continually sync Quest with Vive playspaces without having to constantly re-calibrate.
