Getting started

Selecting an app mode

When you launch the Coherence launcher, you'll see three options:

  1. Create single app

This mode is the typical Coherence creation flow, and will allow you to create an app and select between all of the preferences in Coherence. If this is your first time using Coherence, you should likely start with this mode.

  2. Bulk creator

This mode allows you to create multiple Cohernece apps at once, all with the same settings.

  3. Quick creation

Quick create allows you to quickly create a Coherence app that will automatically use the same settings as the last app you created.

You'll also see a checkbox titled Set as default mode. This will set whatever preferences you select during the creation process to be the default on subsequent changes. Leaving this on will always use the previously used settings.

Finally, you'll see the quick launcher on the left as well as the All applications button. This will lead you to the app manager. To learn more about the app manager, see:

Creating a single app

The following section details creating individual Coherence apps.

Selecting a name and icon

You'll first be asked to enter a name for your app - anything should work - and enter a URL. The vast majority of URLs should be supported, however some URLs (such as local URLs), aren't natively supported and may require being opened in the app after creation.

You can also pick an icon for your app. Coherence features an industry leading icon fetcher that grabs high quality favicons from your target URL. Simply push From web after entering your URL. You can also browse your Mac for your own icon.

Finally, you'll see a Enable Google login in this app checkbox. For most Google accounts, this is necessary to sign in to your account within your app if you intend to use a Google login on any site or service. Once you are signed in, you can turn off Google login. To learn more about the Google login feature, see:

Choose a browser

You'll next be asked to select a backend browser for your app. You can choose to use Chrome, Chrome Canary, or Brave. If you wish to use one of these browsers but don't have it installed, you can download it directly from Coherence by clicking on a download button.
