World Overview

The permanent change of Udyria’s ecosystem

A rogue alien group called Allthronoms interfered with Udyria’s ecosystem at least four millennia ago. While their impact wasn’t as outlasting as humanity’s, they altered the DNA of Danthicals - making them much stronger than the ecosystem could handle. Unaware of the consequences of their actions, danthicals brought many unique animals on Udyria to extinction and drained Udyria’s resources much faster after reverse-engineering Allthronom technology, giving them a disproportionate boost in evolution and technological advancement. The Preservationist Order took things into their hands only two thousand years ago, but their efforts have slowly been showing off. Another crash of the ecosystem came when humanity arrived to Udyria - they brought their own saplings, their own technology, animals both to feed their hungry stomachs and to accompany them upon their travels. These animals escaped after danthicals successfully dominated most of humanity’s outposts in the first few years of their existence on the planet. The rivalry caused some of these animals to run away, pets got lost and pest animals that accidentally breached the spacecraft infested Udyria’s forests, valleys and even the desert. Udyrian forests have been introduced to Earth saplings and with the rising population, sound and light pollution became a bigger problem than it already was when danthicals became technologically advanced.

The world you once knew

Udyria’s terrain has been forever marked by repeated wars between humanity and danthicals.

The Northwest became an aggressive wasteland occupied by only the most enduring of lifeforms after the first global war, one that involved Danthicals and their former masters: Allthronoms. This zone is called ‘the Red Depth’. This was the last outpost of the Allthronoms and to deprive them of any resources, Danthicals have hunted away any animals and dried out the rivers running through this zone. The Red Depth has become extremely radioactive ever since Nyvarn used it as testing grounds for their radioactive technology.

Another location that has been permanently ruined, though by humanity’s influence, is the Abberanche - a zone once occupied by the Abberachian republic, a now fallen nation that formed from the numerous Danthical tribes that inhabited this region. Many millennia before humanity’s arrival, the Monarchy of Lithuis annexed the Abberachian Republic and claimed their land as its own, but humanity successfully took over the South of this region: Shearan, and after allying with Danthicals, they built their first nuclear reactor in the Abberanche’s most northern peaks. During the First Corporate war, this nuclear reactor was bombed, causing an extreme nuclear explosion that uprooted toxic mushroom spores which still linger in the air - not only has this made the air toxic to any lifeforms, but the extreme colds of this region now permanently recreate the effect of a nuclear winter. The last known inhabitants of this region are loose danthical and human groups, scavengers and the Mag-Jeb, natives of this region that have existed here before the nuclear fallout.

Cities, Villages, tight-knit communities

At the moment, only some cities have accessible internet, a tight knit community and a functional economy. When the war ended, it left many different counties as independent city states - the most notable ones being Coneda and Pale City. While Coneda has deep underground levels that are led by different people than just Archpath, Pale City belongs to a nation-sized company called Pale Horse Mercenary Company. Among these cities are small villages, most notable ones are Linthian, Oasis and Meadow. Linthian is the capital city of a now weakened monarchy of Western Danthicals, Oasis is the free city of crime nestled between the two continents - in the landbridge, and Meadow is a series of villages whose history dates back to the first few decades of ASolaris efforts to colonize Udyria.

In the post-war world, most destroyed cities have been taken over by the former inhabitants of it, they have never left. These communities have become much more tight knit. In the world of Danthicals, most remnant societies that once followed the Monarchy for their emphasis on Preservationist Movements now exist in perpetual hatred of anything human or monarchic. These remnant societies are almost tribal like and can be found in the west. In the east, Eastern Danthicals live in much more isolated societies, less dependent on one another thanks to a better system to support each individual. Either way, both species have separated into Confederate or Terranphobic, regarding the way they see humanity. Confederates support the old ways of the Confederacy, Terranphobes despise humanity and sometimes anything that has to do with supporting them. Anything that doesn’t fit these ideologies can be separated into the Cultural Orders of Danthicals.

The crime rate has gone up in places where there isn’t enough support.

Political climate

At this point in time, Makrak and Maroosh are very divided. Makrak is much more advanced and stabilized than Maroosh. In the continent covered by lush forests. societies thrive and depend on one another in times of need, while some are in constant conflicts due to political differences. In Maroosh, things are different, communities are much more tight-knit, but full of rivalry, ready to go after each other’s throats. With resources becoming much more sacred in the East, it’s common to have every other cargo supply raided and every other city destroyed and robbed.

Makrak and Maroosh have become very isolated from the rest of the world, as both have belonged to the Confederacy for most part. Now that the Confederates are gone, Pale Horse Mercenary Company is fighting to take away what once belonged to them. In the East, they are in an active war against insurgent groups and political overlords, some are secretly funded by Archpath. In a world where a large, important nation has fallen, nobody has the resources or courage to pick up what’s been left behind the Confederacy, leaving Makrak and Maroosh as ever changing environments in which new faction-states arise. A similar situation can be observed from the past, when Nyvarn revolted and became their own nation, previously known as a corporate state dependent on the New Deroid Confederacy.

Religion, Spiritual Shifts

Newfound spiritual beliefs tie to altering medical procedures that allow any biological lifeform, primarily humans, to alter their physical look and overwrite their mental states. Among these are old beliefs that have become globalized and more acceptable, such as therianthropy. However such belief has also raised ethical concerns among those who did not transition voluntarily - people who became prisoners of war or were born as an experiment of humanity’s most cruel imaginations. There is a thick line between the beliefs of humanity and danthicals and due to their first encounters, both species avoid practicing one another’s religion. Religions that developed on Earth have transitioned to Udyria, their practices have not changed much.

In the times of the Human-Danthical war, some people did not find escapism in Earth religions and instead, new beliefs were made to make coping with the endless war easier. These beliefs tie to a theoretical concept of Udyria’s noosphere, which has also been explored when alien presence has become more common across the planet. Something is drawing aliens close to this planet - voluntarily or not.

Some sentient robots believe in an artificial figure that brought them sentience, this figure has no name, it is simply a concept that some sentient robots turn to and worship for the sentience they’ve been given. This belief has been twisted into different paths because of the lack of research done around artificial sentience - some simply deny their own artificial origin and do anything to become at least a little organic. Some have looked into their own self and turned to spirituality for answers, while some have accepted their fate as a sentient machine in a world that wasn’t created to accept it. Each path is very individualistic, all that is known is that these beliefs were once united, which lead to the Robotic War of Independence and other automaton revolutions across the world.
