HAUS Project Cooperative complies with all Fair Housing Laws. Under Fair Housing Laws, it is illegal to refuse rental, impose different terms or conditions, make discriminatory statements, lie about the availability of a unit, or in any way discourage an applicant on the basis of an applicant’s race, color, sex, gender identity, age, religion, physical or mental disability, national origin, ancestry, sexual orientation, marital status, order of protection status, parental status, military status, source of income, military discharge status or housing status, political status. Discrimination on these bases can incur severe financial penalties to HAUS Project and to discriminating individuals acting independently of HAUS Project.

Any member or applicant who believes that a law may have been violated during an application process should inform the Board immediately. The Board may override any House or Membership Coordinator decision if it believes that the decision may have violated Fair Housing Laws or HAUS Projects By Laws or Policies.
