Problem

The COVID-19 pandemic requires people to stay at home — apart from family, friends, colleagues, neighbors, teachers, without the ability to connect and collaborate at the level of in-person interactions. 2020 has not been easy. While technology had previously separated individuals by reducing in-person interactions in public, it is now necessary to bring individuals together.

How might we design a screen-based human-computer interaction to help connect people to play, learn, or work together?

As college students with a collective love for food, we decided to explore the domain of co-creation in the realm of cooking together.

Our Solution

Cooklab is a web app that connects individuals who have the skill of cooking with those who are not as familiar to teach others to cook. It allows people to host their own classes, collaborate with other hosts to teach cooking classes, or find cooking classes to learn from.

Ecosystem Collection Map

To capture our collective existing knowledge about the domain of cooking, our team began by creating an ecosystem collection map. From our discussion, we were able to identify points of research to begin our secondary and primary research.
