Eligibility

Our goal at Rook Labs is to put together and maintain a number of lean, highly-competitive groups of A-players who can operate with minimal overhead and high transparency.

For both aspiring and current contributors we demand two things from them:

  1. They need to be a Top Performer
  2. They need to be a Fully Formed Adult

We believe that if those criteria are firmly met, it solves the vast majority of the problems one would encounter in a normal workplace, allowing us to mostly do away with complex HR policies.

Criterion 1: Top Performers

At Rook Labs, we expect excellence. There is no place for adequate contributors. ‘Adequate’ contributors mean that top performers will need to spend their valuable time cleaning up someone else’s shit subpar work. As such, adequacy is a curse for the work experience of exceptional contributors and the work culture in general.

“The best thing you can do for employees—a perk better than foosball or free sushi—is hire only “A” players to work alongside them. Excellent colleagues trump everything else.” [1]
