Getting started

Projects

Our community tipically focuses on one/two projects at a time, which try to address a relevant scientific question in the AI for food allergy space. The long term vision is to be able to develop impactful scientific projects with rigorous validation towards solving big challenges of this field, that may also result in publications. To help us in this vision, the aim is to establish collaborations with knowledgeable advisors or research labs that can bring a scientific guidance.

The three main topics of interest are Early detection & Diagnosis, Drug Design, Food Engineering.

Structure

Each project is tipically split in working groups, which focus on different tasks that can be developed in parallel. Each working group will be designated with a responsible, who will keep track of the work and report updates. Contributors will be assigned to their working group of interest, up to capacity (we try to accomodate every request, but also balance the number of people across groups to avoid overlapping work).

Each working group will have a dedicated discord thread in the #ai-for-allergies channel in order to keep track of conversations.

Meetings

General community meetings are held once a week (date/hour tbd), while within working groups contributors are free to organize communication and collaboration freely.

Contributing to a project

Refer to the home wiki to see active projects, and ask on the main #ai-for-food-allergies discord channels for available roles. We use the github org AI For Food Allergies to handle code. Each project will have a dedicated repo, where you can look at open issues. We will use Gsuite for shared documents and spreadsheets (shared on the email you added in the form).
