In the Wake of Progress (Immersive)

Surround-sound audio may be overwhelming. Earplugs are available upon request. The Experience contains intense moving images which may cause discomfort for people with photosensitivity. Some images show scenes of poverty and food insecurity. There is low lighting throughout the immersive experience in the main room and gallery.

Sensory Info

Within the 45-minute, walk-through experience, there is a 23 minute screening of the piece In the Wake of Progress.

This piece is projected on 3 massive screens, and is accompanied by a powerful soundtrack, played through speakers that encircle the room and the audience.

The piece In the Wake of Progress contains some quick cut images, but not flashing lights nor strobing.  There are some loud noises in the soundtrack to accompany the quickly edited images which may be jarring, there are also some beautiful tranquil moments in piece.

The AR pieces are not viewed through a headset, but through an app which can be downloaded to the patron's mobile device on site, or viewed through iPads which have the app already downloaded.

The remaining elements in the overall Experience are a large Gallery of Edward Burtynsky’s photographs and 2 large murals.
