Contacts App
The Contacts app serves as your address book within the game world, allowing you to save, manage, and interact with the phone numbers of other characters.
- Accessing the App: Tap the Contacts icon (typically an address book 📖) on the Home Screen.
- Main Screen (Contact List):
- Displays all your saved contacts, sorted alphabetically by name. Contacts are grouped under alphabetical headers (e.g., A, B, C).
- Each contact entry shows their profile picture, saved name, and phone number. If the contact's original actor name is different from the saved name, the original name might be shown in parentheses.
- Search Bar: Located at the top (🔍), allowing you to quickly find contacts by typing their name or phone number.
- Action Bar Buttons:
- Scan Nearby (Bluetooth icon )<0xF0><0x9F><0xA7><0xAE>: Initiates a scan for nearby characters (on the map) who are currently sharing their contact information. Found contacts can be added directly.
- My Number (ID card icon 💳): Opens a screen showing your own phone number, profile picture, and name. You can copy your number or share it via the Bluetooth function from here. Depending on GM settings, you might also be able to change your phone number or profile picture.
- Add Contact (Plus icon +): Opens a screen to manually add a new contact by entering their phone number and an optional name.
- Contact Actions: Each contact entry has quick action buttons:
- Call (Phone icon 📞): Immediately initiates a voice call to the contact using the Phone App. Disabled if the contact has no phone number.
- Message (Comment icon 💬): Opens the Messages App directly to a conversation with this contact.
- More Options (Ellipsis icon ⋮): Opens a small menu with options to Edit Name, Share Contact, or Delete Contact.
- Adding a New Contact:
- Tap the Add Contact (+) button.
- Enter the Phone Number in the correct format (e.g.,
STD-1234-5678). The Save button will only become active if the number format is valid according to the GM's settings.
- Optionally, enter a Name you want to display for this contact. If left blank, the phone number might be used as the display name.
- Tap Save. The system will attempt to find the character associated with the phone number to store their basic info (like original name and avatar) alongside your custom name. You'll receive an error if the number doesn't exist in the game world.
- Editing a Contact:
- Tap the More Options (⋮) button on the contact you wish to edit.
- Select "Edit Name".
- Enter the new desired display name in the input field.
- Tap Save. (Note: You can only edit the display name, not the phone number itself.)
- Deleting a Contact:
- Tap the More Options (⋮) button on the contact you wish to delete.
- Select "Delete Contact".
- A confirmation screen will appear showing the contact's details. Tap the "Delete Contact" button (🗑️) at the bottom to confirm.
- Sharing Contacts:
- Tap the More Options (⋮) button on the contact you wish to share.
- Select "Share Contact".
- An action sheet will appear, allowing you to choose a recent conversation or another contact from your list to send the contact card to via the Messages app.
- You can also share your own contact information by tapping the My Number (ID card icon 💳) button, then tapping the Bluetooth icon (<0xF0><0x9F><0xA7><0xAE>) in the top right. This activates the sharing mode for 60 seconds, making you discoverable via the "Scan Nearby" function of other users.
- My Number Screen:
- Accessed via the ID card icon (💳) on the main contact list.
- Displays your character's name, profile picture, and assigned phone number.
- Copy Button (📋): Copies your phone number to the clipboard.
- Share Button (Bluetooth icon <0xF0><0x9F><0xA7><0xAE>): Activates the 60-second contact sharing mode.
- Change Profile Picture (Camera icon 📸 over picture): Allows you to select a new image file from Foundry VTT to use as your phone's profile picture. This picture will be shown to others when you call or message them, or when they view your contact info.
- Change Phone Number (GM Permitting): If the GM has enabled the "Allow custom numbers" setting, an input field will appear allowing you to enter a new phone number. It must conform to one of the active patterns defined by the GM. Input hints and validation will guide you. Press the "Change Number" button (✔️) to submit the change (requires GM approval).
