We’ll be using this meeting to help develop our race and decolonisation approach, on the back of what is discussed and worked through at the Bradford Convergence workshop, 27 October 23.

The work towards this meeting has been scaffolded through the Race and Decolonisation Research Discussion Group. We will aim to develop a set of critical questions that we can activate in our investigations and in the clusters of work that we take forward from here.

We will start by asking two questions:

  1. What does it mean to treat the materials we are working with as a record of UK colonial and capitalist expansion and extraction?
  2. What might it meant to create an anti-racist and anti-oppressive national collection as social machine?

Arising from exploring these two discussions we will draw out general critical questions that we can experimentally apply to all of our investigations and to the Bradford Convergence.
