These are the steps to take in a national task regarding absentees

When you take part in a national task, it is important that we know which candidates are genuine absentees rather than candidates that are missing scans. This absentee check allows us to sort out any possible problems regarding the uploading of scans and the reading of the codes. Here are the steps to take with regards to absentees.

  1. To check your absentees for a task, go into the task and click on Populate, generate, download & print coded sheets on the left hand side.

Then click on the VIEW tab:

The Pages column identifies any candidates that have no pages uploaded for them - the possible absentees (Note: This is why you should not scan and upload blank scripts for candidates, so you can see the absentees).

If you wish, you can order your candidate list by clicking on the Pages heading in the table so that you can see all candidates with 0 pages uploaded grouped together.

  1. Check that the 'absentees' are as expected. If there are any pupils whose scans you have uploaded but are still listed with 0 Pages, get in contact with the No More Marking support team to check what the problem might be.

  2. If you are happy that a candidate is a genuine absentee, click on the box next to the candidate code(s) and press the Toggle - Absentees button.

The Absentee column will now indicate that the relevant candidates are absentees so that the No More Marking team is aware of this when checking your scans. If there are any outstanding candidates without pages who are unaccounted for, the team will contact you to confirm whether these are in fact absentees.
