Maintain fervor

Obsession consists of 3 things

• Confidence → the logical reasons behind why I’m going to succeed. The “memo”. When we were growing or making good progress this was enough on it’s own.
• Delusion → a prerequisite. A powerful mechanism to stay motivated, but also requires reflection because it can lead to naiveté.
• Interest → innately how excited I am about the problem I’m solving. When I talk to customers, investors, or friends am I excited to share? If every plan failed, how excited would I be about the things I learned, connections I made, and person I became?

Ideas are gold and execution is gold. Obsession is diamond.

Fervor is rare. Addiction is rare. True obsession is rare.

If all 3 vectors are pointing in the positive direction the outcome is multiplicative, not additive.

Work requires willpower, play doesn’t

When I have have confidence + delusion + fervor, 100 hours a week is trivial.

Why would I do anything else?

Conversely, a few focused hours are difficult if not.

The more misalignment, the more it feels like work.

And more time I need to recuperate that willpower.

I am the bar

I am the culture when I start a company.

My job is to set the pace.

No one will put in more hours than me or have more conviction than me.

No one will have more belief than me.
