This is the concept I came up with after following the Yu-kai Chou course. The core drives are used here for a good experience for the user. The concept is as follows: the user will come on the platform they need to make a avatar. The avatar represents the user and they gain the 'chosen book'. This book is needed to save their world. When following the courses I have laid out they can earn experience. After the user completed 'a chapter' of the course, they will be sent to a battle scene where they see their avatar defeating enemy's. These enemy's are based on the different problems a beginning writer encounters and what may influence them to quit, for example, uncertainty. The user gains experience points and there is a chance to get a random spell to make a cooler battle scene. With these experience points they can buy sidequests in the different subjects of writing: General writing, Television/movie, book or game. They will gain more insight in the chosen subject. After every step of the course they get feedback from a professional writer on what they are writing. They can also chat with their professional writer if they still have lingering questions.
I made a digital design for this concept and also made a online digital prototype. This prototype I tested with the target audience to see what they think of this idea.
I did the test with Sacha Field. She wanted to start writing, but gave up really soon after finding out how much work it is to gather all the information that is needed.
Her feedback can be seen in the following and I made bullet points to sum it all up:
