luanThe premise is that new members who are still in their onboarding phase will be given low-lift tasks to complete. Upon completion of each task, they will be gifted a POAP. And at the end (potentially) a small amount of $CODE tokens. maybe 3-5
Layer3, Coinvise, and Guild.xyz to ascertain the feasibility of this venture. Rabbithole was initially being considered, but it’s looking like they‘re unable to stack up too well against the other platforms, at this juncture.Guild.xyz differs slightly — in that the aim is to use it to overhaul the entire discord experience, so that it’s in line with what I mapped out in my initial Onboarding Proposal. It will handle cybersecurity, token gating, permissions and verifications, the assignment of roles, and the overall member flowluanA discussion kicked off a few weeks ago by a few Black people within the web3 space, regarding the use of the term ‘bounty’ in reference to actioning tasks. Historically, it has some of its roots in colonialism. To be specific, slave patrols. This discussion also coincided with a question posed by Sarah @ Layer3, as to whether or not there is “…a less mercenary way of addressing the contributions made by your most valuable users?”

It’s important that we are always challenging ourselves to be cognisant of the lived experiences of others, particularly in the context of our own privilege. This comes through education and primarily listening to people from marginalized groups. The reality is that there are racist undertones in the etymology of a number of words that are casually used today. This isn’t something that is unique to racism; as there are ableist terms, misogynistic terms, homophobic ones, etc.
And I like this quote from a 2018 paper that was published in the Journal of the Medical Library Assocication, for the National Center for Biotechnology Information:
”…the widespread use of racist language in discussions… Examples include terminology such as blacklists, whitelists, and black sheep. The use of such terms does not merely reflect a racist culture, but also serves to legitimize and perpetuate it.”
Conclusion: I propose that we do not use the term bounty in reference to tasks any longer, but rather opt for words such as quests, projects, workstreams, etc
luan aakansha MichelleBakels Alex1237I’ve concluded my sessions with each of the guilds, to get a better understanding and some context around roles that they feel should exist. Our community is always evolving, so I will continue to sit in on various meetings across the DAO, to get a better insight into the other parts of the ecosystem, and I encourage others to do the same.
