About the CaDC

Climate change, population growth, aging infrastructure, emerging water contaminants, and more all threaten the availability and affordability of a clean, reliable water supply in California. The water managers tasked with battling these challenges often face incomplete and unreliable information, outdated IT systems, and institutional fragmentation that hinder their efforts to plan and react to these uncertain and changing conditions.

The California Data Collaborative serves as a neutral space for the water industry to collaborate on the creation of open-source software, data, standards, and research that support the informed planning and analysis needed to ensure a reliable and sustainable water supply in California into an uncertain future.

We envision a water industry inspired and empowered to make informed data-driven decisions responsive to tomorrow’s water needs. We will be successful when each water manager in California can easily access the information they need to deliver high-quality, affordable water to every resident of our state and respond to changing circumstances without being hindered by unnecessary institutional and technical barriers to the flow of data.

We are looking for late-stage undergraduates, master students, recent college or boot camp graduates, or even dedicated and self-taught individuals who are looking to work on an important problem impacting service delivery in the public sector.
